Griffin came in a distance second to then-Councilman Jermaine Robinson in the 2017 Ward F council election in a six-person race, but got redemption in 2021 when Gilmore soundly defeated Robinson.

Gilmore will be returning the favor by being the chairman of Griffin’s campaign, according to a D-1 filing with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (NJ ELEC) yesterday.

"People have been coming through Gardner Avenue asking, 'do you want to sell?' I say, 'no, I'm not selling, because where will I live," she told CBS2's Meg Baker.

Her son Michael Griffin brought the issue to the city council asking them to create a no-knock registry…

At a City Hall press conference, local activist Michael Griffin, who worked with council members on the ordinance, said some residents who ended up selling their houses were duped about their homes' worth, he said…

“In working with the Jersey City Police Department, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office [we want] to ensure that they understand that community policing is important, that it’s not just about frisking and questioning people, but it’s also about talking and engaging with people and understanding how people get by in their communities,” says Micael Griffin.

“You can’t criminalize everyone because they live in a bad area.”

In the crowd was former Jersey City Ward F council candidate Michael Griffin, who explained that there were between 100 - 200 people at the start of the walk, but as they made their way towards Lincoln Park, people from the neighborhood joined in and brought the total number of participants to about 500.

“Basically, what we do is we come together in a moment of solidarity to people who fell to acts of violence. It’s also about educating people and showing that we can come together as a community,” shared Griffin.

Griffin took to Facebook and issued a body shot to Fulop's article on Nj.com concerning the proposed "cease and desist" legislation which prohibits the door to door canvassing efforts of buying homes by investors.

Griffin who along with other activists spent months trying to have an ordinance passed which would curb these practices.

Today the Mayor touted the pending legislation as an accomplishment of his administration.

Griffin was not willing to allow the Mayor to accept any credit in the creation of the Ordinance…

At a time when politics was playing itself out in the appointment of Robinson and Fulop had yet to keep a number of campaign promises made concerning Ward F, a ward he lost in the last municipal election, Fulop promoted a referendum to change municipal elections from May to November, widely viewed as a move to facilitate his bid to run for governor, Ward F split 50-50 on the ballot question.
